‘Let’s have conversations that create possibilities together’

Mutual Learning
believes in connecting care practitioners worldwide to inspire each other and mutually transform towards high quality family and community based care. We facilitate collaboration, dialogue and the exchange of experiences with an international community, via a digital platform and 6-month Mutual Learning Program.

The International Convention on the Rights of the Child states that children should grow up in a family environment that provides them with love, security, and understanding. However, over 5.4 million children worldwide live in institutions such as orphanages, far from the vital support they could receive in a home. Although 80-90% of these children have one or both parents alive, many are deprived of their right to family life, which constitutes a violation of their fundamental rights.

We believe there are better alternatives to institutional care. Strengthening families and providing care based on love and community is key to ensuring full development.

Through our Mutual Learning Program, we invite you to join an international network of change-makers working to transform childcare practices. You will share experiences, knowledge, and best practices to strengthen families and offer better alternatives to children in vulnerable situations.

Are you ready to be part of this transformation?

Join the global dialogue and discover how we can create a brighter future for the world’s children.

A bottom-up approach: instead of telling people how to change, we invite organizations and professionals
to share their know-how, experiences, and challenges to inspire change.

Day-to-day practices: the experiences of our participants,
enriching materials and discussions will be central to the program.

Human relationships: we are nothing without the relationships with children, families,
communities and other stakeholders.

In other words, we are interested to hear from YOU.
In our international community, care-practitioners get connected with each other. Get inspired by like-minded people and those who think differently. Rich and fruitful conversations guaranteed.

“The sessions with Rocio were so enriching. I thought I knew better but I did not. I learned new things about dialogue. It’s not about me, it’s about the client. It’s not about the client getting professional assistance from me. But it’s about us doing things together to solve the challenges. Our client – professional relationship changed.”

“For me the MLP is about sharing various practices and learning from each other. Like a peer group. It’s been good to work with different countries and different perspectives. I find that very useful.”

“Every time I learn something new”

“I learned sometimes we don’t work on the best interest of the child, but on our own interest. We do it our way. The family is now more important than anything. That is inspiring.”

“I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to reflect with other people from other parts
of the world.”
